THE STORY OF H.O.M.E.

Our History:

In 2008, Det. Pierce was assigned to be the School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Lansing school districts and it was during that time Det. Pierce noticed a divide between the middle school students in school district 158 and school district 171. Det. Pierce saw the need to build a good rapport between the community’s youth and develop respectful and responsible relationships among students and families from both schools. These cordial relationships were needed before the students eventually came together as incoming freshman at their local high school, Thornton Fractional South, school district 215. It was at this time Det. Pierce founded Helping Our Minors Excel Inc., a community based nonprofit organization with the goal to mentor and positively develop the minds of children ages 10-18.

Det. Pierce started providing students with the number of programs and community service opportunities brought to Lansing. Some of his honorable mentions include, Pack the Pantry Food Drive, Best Buy Family Game Night, Middle School Madness, Crosstown Basketball Classic and the implementation of the S.T.A.R. mentoring program.
